The Inspiration Challenge today was certainly a challenge. Hmmmm…… a black and white Picasso doodle of a camel (I think). What to do? After a bit of thinking I decided to go with a Doodled butterfly from Autumn Leaves on a Fabriano Medioevalis 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ notecard. I smudged it a bit along the way, so my fix was to the add the sponged triangles on the sides. Nothing like a smudge to make you get creative!
I used post-its and grid paper to mask the corners. Then I made an extra triangle on each side and sponged those (I just kinda eyeballed those). Then I added the Signo Gel pen dots for accents. Not as simple of a design as I started out with, but I think I like the end result for the challenge.
Sets used: Butterfly from Autumn Leaves, Friendship Shapes
Paper: Fabriano Medioevalis notecard
Ink: Palette Ink - Noir
Accessories: Signo Gel Pen

Ok I couldn’t stand it. It had to have more color. I couldn’t help myself……hehe
So……….. I watercolored the butterfly using Pretty in Pink & Regal Rose and did a little shading on the phrase. I added a freehand line of Regal Rose along the sides. Then came the Gelly Roll Stardust pen for sparkle. I finished it off with white organdy ribbon.
Here’s my watercolored card:

It’s a Waterlily day today!
The challenge today was to make a card using punches. I was able to make this card completely from my scrap paper basket. All the CS used is from www.prismpapers.com . I’m liking this cardstock! It’s got a bumpy texture (kinda like watercolor paper) which make it fun for projects like this. It’s a little thinner than SU cardstock, but thick enough for a card back. Great for layering and it comes in a jillion yummy colors. Way fun! You can get it online in a bunch of places (just google Prism Papers).
For this card I started out punching a bunch of small ovals and then sponged all the edges in Elegant Eggplant. Put them together in a flower shape and Shape the petal a bit. The yellow centers are ovals also that have little wedges cut out with scissors.
The lily pad is a hand cut oval with nipped edges using the 1 1/4″ circle punch. Instead of a whole circle flip your punch over (so you can see) insert your paper and nip about 1/4″ inch of the circle. The lines on the lily pad were painted in with an Aquapainter in Always Artichoke in. I also sponged the edges.
The background is circles cut with the 1 1/4″ circle punch with sponged edges in Not Quite Navy
Here’s my card:.

Paper: Prism Prismatics
Ink: Always Artichoke, Not Quite Navy, Elegant Eggplant
Accessories: Signo Gel Pen, Small Oval Punch, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, AquaPainter

The second Doodle card one is one I did with the Emboss Resist technique for VSN. Directions for this technique can be found here: www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/embossingresist.php . After embossing I sponged Only Orange on the backgrond and then went back and sponged just the flower centers in Real Red. The main image flower was painted with Only Orange ink and an Aquapainter.

Papers used - Whisper White, Basic Black
Inks used - Only Orange, Real Red, Old Olive
