Paper Piecing
Paper Piecing is a technique I use all the time. It’s really simple and you get a great result.
Step 1 - Stamp your image on CS (I used Whisper White). This will be your base for layering.
Step 2 - Stamp the same image again on colored CS or patterned paper (I used Ruby Red for the balloons and DP from DCWV for the dress and shoes).
Step 3 - Carefully cut out the images that will be layered.
Step 4 - Color your background before layering.
Step 5 - Add your layers. I leave some edges loose to create more shadow. In this case, the bottom edge of the dress.

Great tutorial…easy to follow directions. Thanks for your efforts in putting it together!
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing! And GREAT card!
So cool! Thanks for the tutorial! I need to try this. Your Bella looks fab!
Super cute card…nice details on paper piecing too!
I’m waiting for my first order of Bella’s - and now I know how to dress them! Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Great job of piecing - Another cute bella!
Jeanne, this is awesome! I have not done anything like this that I can think of. I have your home page marked and will try this and let you know how it goes. That is a really cute card by the way! Stacy
Thank you thank you! I have been wondering how this is done! Beautiful card!
Girl….that card is too stinking cute! Love your coloring, your layout…everything. Great instructions too!!!
Wonderful tutorial, Jeanne! Thanks for breaking it down - I’m such a visual person, it really helps.
Love the finished card too. So sweet.
Hi Jeanne,
Great tutorial! I’ll have to try this out. You picked a great way to showcase it with the patterned paper/dress/shoes. And the final card is stunning, but no surprises there! This was a very easy to follow tutorial. Where did you get the little holder for the card?
This is such a cool way to add color without coloring! I need to do this! Thanks for the great tutorial!
Great tutorial, Jeanne!
Karen - I bought the little clear stand at Hobby Lobby.
great tutorial Jeanne. I love this card too!
I finally got a chance to try out this technique. I really enjoyed it! Thanks again for the tutorial. (And thanks for letting me know about the stand - next time I’m over the border I’ll find a Hobby Lobby and look for one.)
Here are links to my cards in my gallery that I used paper piecing on. The photos didn’t come out too well - in real life the colours are nicer.

Deb
Great tutorial! I always thought it involved actual piercing and so I was kind of confused (doesn’t take much!). I appreciate your step by step instructions!
Thanks for the step by step directions. I’ve seen this on cards, but was not sure exactly how to accomplish such professional results. I just “LOVE” the bella stamps, although I do not have any just yet. I’ll be trying this technique today. Looks easy enough. I seriously appreciate you taking the time to explain it with photos.
Thanks for sharing this Jeanne - love seeing it step by step. LOVE all of your cards —- just beautiful!!
