Layered Reverse Masking

Published by inkypaws at 7:46 am under Fun stuff

Beth’s Challenge today TLC111 is Reverse Masking. This is such a fun and easy technique. I snapped some pictures as I was making my card to guide you through the steps. All the stamps used in the card are from PaperTrey ink. I used Classic SU inks (I normally use pigment or chalk inks with clear stamps). These are wonderful stamps!

Stamps: PaperTreyink Butterfly Kisses

Paper: Confetti White

Ink: Taken With Teal, Cool Caribbean

Accessories: Black Gingham Ribbon, Marvy Giga Scallop Circle punch, Marvy Mega Circle punch, Gelly Roll Stardust Pen

Step one: I punched out Scallop Circle on copy paper. Then I put a couple Post-it notes on the bottom to mask the bottom of the cardstock. This also helps keep your mask in place. I sponged lightly (tap your sponge on scratch paper to make sure you don’t have too much ink) in Taken with Teal ink.

The second picture is what it’ll look like after the mask is removed.

Step two: I punched out the inner circle with a Mega Circle punch on copy paper. Align that up evenly with the sponged scallop. Secure with post-its.

Step three: I sponged the edge of the circle lightly in Taken with Teal. Then I sponged the rest of the opening in Cool Caribbean.

Before I removed the mask I also stamped some little flowers and swirls in the circle with Cool Caribbean. The butterfly was stamped in Taken with Teal and then I traced the swirls with a Gellyroll Stardust pen for some sparkle.

Here’s my finished card:
