Wow what a generous gift. I can’t beleive I am first. I would have to say my favorite phrases are inspirational quotes. I always sign all of my letters or comments with It’s a good life! I guess that would be my fav.

Thank you for all of your hard work on your blog, I love it.

    It’s a good life!
    Terri E.

OK, picture a drunk Rudolph leaning against a lamp post the night after Christmas. When you open the card it says, “Bingle Jells, Bingle Jells”. The guy at Rubbernecker Stamps is a very generous person and please pass along my appreciation for the opportunity! Merry Christmas Jeanne S see you at bowling next year.

Oh, my goodness that is such a cute card! My favorite Christmas phrase is Joyful Jesus Birthday…which I hope you have…a Joyful Jesus Birthday!

  4. Rachel Hopeon 22 Dec 2007 at 10:14 am

I have always loved this quote by Norman Vincent Poole *Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.*

May you and your family have a Very Wonderful Christmas!

  5. Becky Gon 22 Dec 2007 at 10:28 am

Jeanne, that is such a cute card! I am like you and love the quirky sayings. Having spent the last couple of days running here and there and fighting traffic and tempers, I would have to say my favorite saying is “Don’t get your tinsel in a twist!”
Hope you have the merriest of Christmases. Many thanks to you and Dave for the opportunity to win blog candy!

  6. Wendyon 22 Dec 2007 at 10:46 am

  7. Donnaon 22 Dec 2007 at 11:01 am

    another great Jeanne original…

    I like this one…

“You know you’ve grown up when none of the things you want for Christmas can be bought at a store.”

  8. cathyon 22 Dec 2007 at 11:11 am

Wow…I want to play for this AWESOME blog candy! You’re right Dave’s THE MAN!

    Ok here is my saying:
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first.

This is the story of my life. (tee hee)
Thanks for a chance and have a Merry Christmas.

What a very nice prize! I think my favorite is a serious one, “The road to a friends house is never long.” I do like your card and saying though. I’ll have to hop on over and check them out.

  10. Corion 22 Dec 2007 at 11:24 am

Thanks for sharing w/ all of us! Hope you have a Merry Christmas. I am a therapist so my favorite stamp/phrase I have is “Who needs therapy when there’s chocolate”

  11. Julie (Joypup on SCS)on 22 Dec 2007 at 11:31 am

Oh, so many sentiments… Non-Christmas keeps catching my eye — “if it’s not one thing, it’s your mother!” caught my eye, and then there is a Serenity Prayer one that I am wanting. I have a Thoreau quote about living life like a beach, close to the edge…

Holiday sentiments that catch my eye often have the word “Bright” in them, since that’s my daughter’s name! However, we are not Christian, so I don’t often get Christmas sentiments. I have been enjoying them more as I have been making cards for others, but my stash is definitely tiny! I love holiday sentiments that are usable for all winter holidays… “Peace” is especially dear to me.

Thanks for the chance to win!

One of my favorite expressions when my children were teenages was: If you are toasty warm, the heat is set too high.
They thought they should be able to wear shorts and t-shirts all winter.

    Here’s my favorite saying..

“Christmas … is not an eternal event at all, but a piece of one’s home that one carries in one’s heart.”

And this is the funnier one..

Christmas begins about the first of December with an office party and ends when you finally realize what you spent, around April fifteenth of the next year

    thanks..and merry Christmas…

  28. elizabeth wicklandon 22 Dec 2007 at 3:52 pm

My favorite today is one my uncle said when he was in a Christmas play as a child. He couldn’t remember the last line he was supposed to say, so he ad-libbed:

    Merry Christmas

    Happy New Year…

A friend of mine told me this story about when her children were small. She did the usual If you don’t behave Santa will not be stopping at this house! (emphasis on the word Behave)

Well Christmas morning her youngest came running into her room announcing We’ve been haved!!! (long a sound) Santa came. HMM must have been some doubt there!! LOL So now we all use that when we are together Yes we have been haved this year too!! LOL.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
I hope you have been haved so Santa is good to you!!

  50. Jaimeon 22 Dec 2007 at 9:40 pm

I don’t really have a favorite phrase, but I love different fonts. Some cursive, some typewriter font, etc. I love simple phrases, like Happy Birthday, You’re in my prayers, Thinking of you, etc.

hehe, the tiki is hilarious! One of my favorite quotes is from a commercial for a restaurant around here, and Jack Nichelson did the voice over, so you have to say it in his voice….” like, fa-la-la-la-la-man” and also just about any quotes from Christmas Story: for example– “fragile-(pronounce fraj-ee-lay)-I think it’s Italian!”

  53. Janon 22 Dec 2007 at 11:51 pm

My favorite line actually comes from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas…

“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.” “Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!”

My favorite phrase is “Merry Christmas!” Simple, but it brings back so many memories!

  58. Sue Bon 23 Dec 2007 at 1:05 am

a fav winter saying of mine, if you can call a get well greeting “winter-ish” follows:

    comfy jammies,
    cozy bed,
    big soft pillow,
    for your head.

    worry not,
    the world can wait.
    take your time -
    recuperate!

    - anon (not sure but it may have been on an electronic greeting I’d rec’d in years past?!)

    later, alligator!
    grins,

    Merry Christmas Jeanne!
I have one that I use because I have quite a few frog stamps “Mistle-Toad” (kinda lame without a visual of a frog in a santa hat.

I used to work in an import store and we had a card that made me crack up each time I saw it. The phrase was “The Stockings were hung by the chimney with Care” But the picture was a family whose last name was *Stocking* with their dog *Care* all hanging on the hearth. As I type this it sounds sick–but it was cute–REALLY!!

  69. Pam B.on 23 Dec 2007 at 8:47 am

One of my favorite Christmas ‘quotes’, I guess, isn’t really a quote, but a song. Several years ago, at a large company Christmas party, I had the privilege of hearing an opera-level tenor sing ‘O, Holy Night’……and I got teary-eyed and COVERED with goosebumps as he belted out that song! (It was just him, no background music, etc.) I have NEVER reacted like that to someone singing a song. To this day, every time I hear that song, I STILL get teary-eyed and covered with goosebumps. My sons had their Christmas program at church last week, and a young (11-12 year-old) girl sang this song….with the sweetest, perfect voice. You could just tell that every single word was coming from her heart. The whole congregation was silent after she finished—-a really powerful moment. (That is, until they burst into applause for her!!) So… that is my favorite ‘quote’ for Christmas. I think ‘Jesus is the reason for the Season’ is too…..especially after fighting bad-tempered crowds during a day of shopping. It really brings my mind-set back where it needs to be when I start getting cranky too!
Thanks for the chance at some fabulous blog candy!! Have a wonderful, Merry Christmas!! Pam B. (4Hounds)

We cracked up laughing and he just looked at us like we were nuts until he realized what he had said. TFS!!

Cute card-makes me think of Hawaii where I got my first Christmas ornament…in 1977. i grew up in a home with a Dad who was Jewish and a Mom who wasn’t so we didn’t have a tree. My favorite phrase comes from the show OC-Chrismakauh-reminds me of what we celebrated as kids!
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I did a card for my daughter who is now up in Great Lakes, freezing in the Navy boot camp. I used the donkey image from whipper snapper and on the inside I put, “Hope you are keeping your ass warm!”

This phrase came to mind just the other day. Ups came and brought my DH his gift. Well it wasn’t in a box to hide what it was ans he now nows what it is. So my phrase to him was
“Please act surprised when you open this OK…”

    Happy Holidays all.

My 15 yo dh has been making me a handmade gift for many years. She get so excited for me to open it, she begs me to open it long before Christmas day. So, I seem to say many times each Christmas season “No, I can’t open it until Christmas!”

  114. Jennifer Son 24 Dec 2007 at 1:54 pm

I have to go with our family fave -
“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!!”

Being from Texas and my boys from Florida, now that our family has lived in Ohio for the past 10 years, we are such huge fans of the snow. So we say, bring it on baby!!! :D We love the white stuff! And where we live gets over 100 inches of it every winter. So we’re in the perfect place for it! Yippppeeeeeeee!

Of course for Christmas you can’t beat one that has been mentioned by so many already, ‘Wise Men Still Seek Him.’ so deep and profound, yet so true.

Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thank you for the gift of sharing your creativity with all of us throughout the year! :)
