A Quick Note

Published by inkypaws under Rubbernecker Stamps

Here’s a fun card that looks hard to make, but it was pretty darn easy!

The background:

I started out with a 5″ X 5″ square of white CS (I used Georgia Pacific). I first sprayed with a Vintage/Bronze shimmer spray (1/2 teaspoon Bronze Perfect Pearls, 1 dropper Ranger Distress Vintage Photo ink, water to fill a Mini Mister), then while still wet sprayed with Mahogany/Bronze shimmer spray (1/2 teaspoon Bronze Perfect Pearls, 1 dropper Ranger Distress Mahogany ink, water to fill a Mini Mister). I then dried this panel with a heat tool. *hint* shake the shimmer spray before using to get best results.

After the panel was dry I scored every inch with a Mini Score-it. Once everything was scored I used a bone folder to give a nice crease. I sponged Ranger Distress Walnut Stain ink on all the creases. Flatten panel, distress edges and sponge edges with Walnut Stain ink.

I used a Tim Holtz (Tonic) Retractable Piercing Tool to poke the holes for the brads. I eyeballed the center of the squares and poked my holes. Add brads and mount onto black card back.

The main panel:

I stamped the Music Sheet image on white CS with Walnut Stain ink. I sponged the entire panel (lightly, just a smidge of ink) with Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany ink. I sponged the edges more heavily with Walnut Stain ink and distressed the edges. The phrase was stamped over the top in Walnut Stain ink. I used a a Cut & Dry Pen Nib dipped in Aged Mahogany ink to get the color in the letters. Mat onto black CS. Attach with foam tape.

The Grungeboard:

I trimmed the pieces a bit to fit better onto my card. Apply a think layer of Aged Mahogany Ranger Crackle Paint and let dry. Once the paint starts to crackle you can speed it up with a heat tool. After the paint was dry I sprayed with Vintage/Bronze shimmer spray for a little sparkle. Attach with glue dots.*hint* A thick layer of Crackle Paint makes big crackles, thin layer makes smaller crackle.

Here are the products I used:

And here’s my finished card:
