Charge!

Published by inkypaws at 12:24 pm under High Hopes

There a ton of fun new jungle images over at High Hopes Rubber Stamps! They’ve just arrive on my doorstep and I had a heck of a time trying to figure out what to play with first…hehe

I finally decided on this cute Rhino (Chrissy even made a Rhino cute….. she is amazing!), because this phrase cracked me up.

The Rhino was stamped on Georgia Pacific White CS and colored with Copic markers. The grassy area was colored in with a green marker and then I added a few blades of grass with a darker green marker. The sky area was sponged with Ranger Distress Faded Jeans ink and the grass area was sponged with Peeled Paint.

Another great card! That rhino is adorable!!!
When you sponge your backgrounds… do you wet the sponge first? I’ve only used my sponges once and did not get the beautiful fluid results that you always do :) Thanks so much!

Stacy - I sponge with just a teeny bit of ink. I dab it into the pad and then dab it off a couple of times onto scratch paper to get most of it out. Keep adding a wee bit at a time until you get the color you want.

I was curious about your sponging, too. How, exactly, do you sponge? What kind of sponge do you use, also? All I’ve done for sponging would be to distress the edges and I don’t know if that’s the same thing you do. Thanks for any tips you have!

And, I LOVE the card! My family loves rhinos! I’ve just never seen a card where a rhino would work, but I love the sentiment with it. :-) Great job! :-)

I LOVE those high hopes stamps. As a matter of fact, I am going to go order that particular stamp right now. I have a friend who is terminally ill who has been called Rhino off and on since we were young. He was playing a pick up game of basketball once. H-O-R-S-E was too short of a game..so they played R-H-I-N-O-S-however you spell it!
