Distressed Buffalo

Published by inkypaws under Guy cards, Rubbernecker Stamps

I couldn’t resist this handsome buffalo from the Stamp Oasis section of Rubbernecker Stamp Co. I thought he’d be perfect for guys cards - which are the hardest kind of card for me to do for some reason. I’m working on it though. I’ve been busy trying some new techniques that lean more towards a guy looking card. I love to try new stuff. It get’s my creative juices flowing.

The technique is fairly simple on this card. It called Polished Stone (I’m sure there are other names, but that’s what I’ve always called it). I used a Tim Holtz Adirondack®Alcohol Ink Applicator - this is a wood handle with disposable felt pieces. They are held on with velcro. What a great invention! No more inky fingers ando much easier than the old fashioned cotton ball method. I took my ink blending tool and put 5 drops of Ranger Distress Scattered Straw ink and about the same amount of Ranger Blending solution and pounced it on the square of gloss white CS. Set aside.

The rectangle behind the buffalo and the main background was done the same way, except I used Ranger Distress Tea Dye ink. The rectangle behind the buffalo was pounced on plain white CS and the main backgound was Gloss White. On the rectangle I added a few extra drops of the blending solution directly on the paper which made the ink really spread and makes an even different texture. Can you tell I was playing a bit? hehe

After I was done making all my panels I hit them briefly with a Heat Tool to make sure all the ink was dry. Then I stamped the fabulous (can you tell I like this image?) buffalo in Ranger Soot Black ink. I added some Gold Stickles to his star for a little manly sparkle.

I hope you like him as much as I do. I think you’ll be seeing much more of this guy.

Summer Sun

This weeks color challenge on SCS - Certainly Celery, Old Olive and Summer Sun

Hmmmmm……Summer Sun is not my favorite color. I guess that’s why they call it a challenge. After racking my brain a bit I had a couple ideas.

My first thought was flowers. One can never go wrong with Jolies Fleurs from Lizzie Anne Designs.

I stamped the flower twice in Summer Sun ink on Georgia Pacific White CS. I colored one flower and then just the center of the second flower. I cut out the two pieces and layered them with a foam dot. The last step was to add a few dots and Stickles and the card was ready to assemble.

The next card was all about the golf pants……..lol. Something about Summer Sun and Old Olive reminded me of the bright colored plaids you see only on the golf course (that’s a good thing). This card is for my Father in Law for his birthday. The image was colored with Copic Markers. The phrase was made by taking the “Fore” from one phrase and the “You” from another. I used a black marker just to ink those particular words on the stamps.

Did you notice that his pants are rolling under his belly? HAHAHAAAAAA!!!

Howdy Pocket

Published by inkypaws under Guy cards, Lizzie Anne Designs

I just love this little Lizzie Anne Designs Cowboy (well…….who doesn’t love a Cowboy?). Beth’s challenge on SCS today was to make a pocket card and I thought this little guy would be just perfect. Pocket cards are very simple. Just fold as you normally would for a cardback and then fold the front edge to make your flap. I folded mine at 1 1/4″ , but you can vary that measurement to suit your card.

Stamps: Cowboy & Howdy - Lizzie Anne Designs

Paper: Georgia Pacific White, Very Vanilla, Dp from Flair Designs

Ink: Noir Black Palette, Close to Cocoa

Accessories: Copic markers, Hemp
